Lawrence County swept Cherokee County 25-13, 29-27, 25-14 to advance to the Class 4A state volleyball tournament Thursday.

The Lady Red Devils (51-16) will play a state quarterfinal match Wednesday in Pelham.

In the sub-state win over Cherokee County, Summer Wilkerson had 12 kills, while Olivia Coffey had 11. Shae Lane had 25 assists. Carlie Borden contributed eight digs, while Coffey and Lane had seven each.

Coffey had five blocks, and Nakia McDaniel added four.

East Limestone advanced by beating Guntersville 29-27, 17-25, 25-21, 26-24.

Class 6A: The Austin Lady Black Bears fell short in a bid for the state tournament by falling to Pelham 25-8, 25-14, 25-21.

Brittney Smith paced Austin (48-25) with eight kills, while Tiera Robinson had three. Lindsey Rogers led in assists with five, and Carlie Keenum contributed four.

Ali Barnette had eight digs. Robinson had three blocks, and Shanise Foster added two.

Class 5A: After making the state semifinals a year ago, Hartselle advanced again with a road win at Gardendale 25-23, 33-35, 25-20, 15-25, 15-10.

Class 3A: Danville advanced to the state tournament again with a 25-20, 25-21, 16-25, 25-23 win over Geraldine.

The Lady Hawks will play Wednesday. They finished second in 2005 and reached the semifinals in 2006.

Against Geraldine, Alaina Fitzgerald had 20 kills, while Lindsay Simmons added 14. Fitzgerald and Kimberly Lindsey each had 16 assists. Lacey Evans provided 37 digs, while Fitzgerald had eight. Fitzgerald had five blocks, and Simmons added four. Fitzgerald served five aces, and Simmons and Kirby Wallace each had four.

Class 2A: Addison advanced to the state tournament with a 25-9, 25-11, 25-11 win over Ohatchee. The Lady Bulldogs won state titles in 2003, '04 and '05.

West Morgan fell to Piedmont 24-26, 25-9, 25-16, 25-21.

Class 1A: Athens Bible beat Speake 25-18, 20-25, 25-13, 25-22 to advance.

Abbie Melvin paced ABS (48-7) with 21 kills, while Christina Ivey added 17. Hannah Owen had 22 assists, and Athena Hinkle contributed 16. Melvin had 26 digs, while Makayla Melvin added 18, Ivey 13 and Owen 12 and Katie Eubanks 12 each.

Donoho beat Hazlewood 25-22, 25-17, 25-11.
