George runs for 236 yards in Danville victory

Danville High scored its first victory of the year by blasting Hanceville 54-0.

The Hawks (1-8) scored three touchdowns in the opening quarter and three more in the second period for a 41-0 halftime lead.

Levi George paced Danville with 236 rushing yards on 19 carries. He scored four touchdowns.

George opened the scoring with a 5-yard scoring run. He then added a 4-yard touchdown run, and Clint McAbee scored on a 43-yard run.

Cody Brakeman opened the second period with a 36-yard touchdown run, and George added a 7-yard scoring run. Tyler Beck then tossed a 37-yard scoring pass to McAbee.

George added a 56-yard scoring run in the third period, and Evan Cleghorn completed a 13-yard touchdown pass to Thomas Russell in the fourth quarter.

Corey Evans kicked six extra points.

Clements 26, West Limestone 20: The Colts trailed 20-6 at halftime before scoring a touchdown in the third quarter and two more in the fourth.

Wesley Miles began the comeback with a 14-yard scoring run in the third period. In the fourth, Cody Rose rushed for his second touchdown of the night to tie it at 20-20. Seth Bachelor then caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Jamison Bridges to win it.

For West Limestone (4-5), Tommy Reyer ran for a touchdown and threw for another. Palmer Askew rushed for a touchdown, and Tyler McClung caught one.

Colbert County 37, Elkmont 7: The Tigers fell behind 21-0 by halftime and never could challenge powerful Colbert County.

Jonathan Carter caught a scoring pass from Tom Logan in the third quarter for Elkmont’s lone touchdown.

For Colbert County (8-1), Jamorris Ricks rushed 18 times for 222 yards and a touchdown.

Elkmont dropped to 4-5, including 4-3 in Class 3A, Region 8.
