Tolbert paces Auburn to exhibition victory

AUBURN (AP) — Frank Tolbert scored 25 points — 18 of them in the second half — to help lead Auburn to an 89-75 victory over Bluefield College in an exhibition game Thursday night.

Korvotney Barber and DeWayne Reed had 16 points each for the Tigers who were without forwards Josh Dollard, who is sitting out the season for "medical reasons," and Quan Prowell, who is suspended for the first six games for violation of team rules.

The Tigers gave up an early lead to the Ramblin' Rams but came back and took the lead for good on a Matt Haramb 3-pointer for a 15-12 lead. That three set off a 15-1 run by the Tigers that helped Auburn lead by as many as 16 in the first half. Haramb had 11 points in the game.

Barber and Reed nearly had double-doubles as they had nine rebounds and nine assists, respectively.

Curtis Dixon led Bluefield with 21 points.

It was the only exhibition game for Auburn, which opens the regular season at Tulane on Nov. 9. The Tigers' home opener will be against Kennesaw State on Nov. 13.
