7 score TDs in Hazlewood rout
Blankenship has big night in Clements' victory

Hazlewood got touchdowns from seven different players as the Golden Bears capped an undefeated regular season with a 61-8 thrashing of Parrish on Friday night.

The Class 1A, Region 8 champion Hazlewood (10-0) hosts Appalachian on Friday in a first-round playoff bout.

The Golden Bears took advantage of six Parrish turnovers. Hazlewood’s Dave McCoy returned one of those four interceptions 100 yards for a touchdown. McCoy also had a 69-yard touchdown run to make the score 41-0 heading into the fourth quarter.

Hazlewood also got rushing scores from Tyler Holden, Keenon Porter, Jeremy Green, Timmy Hicks and Ledorcey Deloney.

Quarterback Keginald Harris threw a 71-yard touchdown pass to Clifton Benford to cap a 20-point first quarter for the Golden Bears.

Clements 30, Ardmore 21: Colby Blankenship returned an interception 85 yards for a touchdown to seal Clements’ win over Ardmore on Friday night.

Down 24-21 with 1:14 left in the game, Ardmore (1-9) was on the Clements 25-yard line when Blankenship picked off the pass.

It was the third interception of the night for the Colts, who had 200 total yards to Ardmore’s 333.

Blankenship also caught a 20-yard pass in the second quarter to give the Colts (5-5) a 16-14 halftime lead. Clements took a 24-14 lead into the fourth quarter following Kody Bliss’ second rushing score.

Ardmore running back Landon Curtis had 160 yards on 24 carries and scored two touchdowns. E.J. Barnes also scored for the Tigers, who finished last in Class 4A, Region 7.

Addison 18, Lynn 14: Elliot Carpenter’s 5-yard touchdown pass to Jordan River lifted Addison over Lynn on Friday night, giving the Bulldogs a boost before the playoffs begin.

Addison (8-2) hosts Ranburne on Friday in a first-round game.

Addison kicker Daniel Mann had the only points of the first half for the Bulldogs, hitting a 27-yard field goal to make the score 8-3 at the break.

Addison, which finished second in Class 2A, Region 8, took an 11-8 lead on River’s 38-yard run in the third quarter. But Lynn’s Steve Cagel answered with a 19-yard touchdown pass to Hayde Garrison, giving the Bears (7-3) a 14-11 lead before Carpenter’s game-winning completion.

West Limestone 28, Good Hope 25: Chris Wilbanks’ 3-yard run in the fourth quarter sealed West Limestone’s win over Good Hope on Friday night.

The Wildcats (5-5) jumped out to a 14-0 lead on two rushing touchdowns, but Good Hope
(7-3) answered with two of its own.

Wesley Rear threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to Tommy Reyer in the third quarter to give the Wildcats a 20-12 lead, but Good Hope answered with a
37-yard touchdown pass by Matt Blackmon, making the score
20-18 entering the fourth quarter.

After Wilbanks’ touchdown run, Jake King scored his second rushing score of the night.

Tarrant 31, R.A. Hubbard 14: Andre Berry ran for three touchdowns and Tarrant amassed 290 yards on the ground, running over R.A. Hubbard on Friday night.

Berry also caught a 76-yard touchdown pass from quarterback John Jones as Tarrant took a 24-0 lead into the fourth quarter.

Tarrant (6-4) hosts East Limestone in a first-round playoff match Friday.

The teams combined for 547 yards rushing.

Tecumseh Garth and Gregory Young had rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter for the Chiefs (3-7), who finished sixth in Class 1A, Region 8 .
