Ole Miss slips past S. Alabama

Eniel Polynice scored a career-high 28 points and sparked a game-opening 11-0 run Tuesday as Mississippi got past South Alabama 81-78.
Polynice hit 10 of 15 field goals, including 7 of 11 from 3-point range, and added seven rebounds and four assists.
Chris Warren had 12 points, Kenny Williams added 11 and Dwayne Curtis had 10 to lead the Rebels.
Ole Miss (2-0) nearly blew a 22-point first-half lead in the final minute. Freshman guard Terrence Watson deflected an inbounds pass by South Alabama (1-1) with 1.5 seconds remaining to preserve the win.
Demetric Bennett led South Alabama with 28 points, including six 3-pointers. Domonic Tilford had 15 and DeAndre Coleman added 12 for the Jaguars.
Ole Miss led 51-32 at halftime. Polynice had 21 first-half points while the Rebels shot 61 percent from the field.
Vanderbilt 77, Toledo 70: Shan Foster scored 21 points to lead Vanderbilt.
The Commodores (2-0) led 35-29 at halftime and shot 67 percent (14 of 21) in the second half to pull away.
Foster, one of three returning starters from last season's team that made it to the NCAA Sweet 16, also had eight rebounds. A.J. Ogilvy, a 6-11 center from Australia who had 18 points in his college debut Saturday against Austin Peay, scored 20 points.
